Tap water disinfection is to prevent water-borne infectious diseases and provide public health protection. There are many common tap water disinfection methods. Each disinfection manufacturer will choose the method that suits itself according to their needs. Ultraviolet disinfection has the characteristics of low pollution and high efficiency. We usually use an UV radiometer to measure.

1. Use of UV radiometer

The basic purpose of the UV radiometer is to measure the energy of different wavelengths of ultraviolet rays. It is a wide-spectrum measuring instrument. In actual measurement, it is necessary to select the corresponding instrument according to the wavelength of the ultraviolet light source. The intelligent UV radiometer can display statistical data more systematically and intuitively, which is convenient for the assessment of ultraviolet energy.

2. Three common water disinfection methods

One of the processes that must be completed in a water plant is water disinfection. Generally, disinfection is to reduce the microbial content in the water and avoid damage to the human body. Before entering the transportation system, each water plant will consider factors such as cost, disinfection efficiency and maintenance costs. In China, chlorine disinfection and ultraviolet disinfection are the most common methods for disinfection. In western countries, ozone disinfection is more common.

(1) Chlorine disinfection

Chlorine disinfection use some chlorine-containing substances into water for large-scale, deep-level sterilization and disinfection. This kind of chlorine-containing substance belongs to chemical reagents, which has extremely low cost and simple operation. It does not require a large amount of capital and labor costs. However, this method of chlorine gas disinfection has a more prominent drawback, that is, chlorine gas is easy to produce some products when it is put into water.

(2) UV disinfection

Ultraviolet disinfection is a disinfection method that is more advanced and easy to accept at present. It generally needs ultraviolet disinfection equipment. This ultraviolet disinfection equipment uses the powerful energy of ultraviolet radiation to kill bacteria and microorganisms, without any damage and pollution to the surrounding environment.
The tap water after UV disinfection showed no signs of chemical and physical treatment. The PH value, smell and color did not change. For most people, it is a more acceptable way to disinfect tap water. This disinfection method requires relatively high ultraviolet energy values for ultraviolet disinfection equipment. The requirements for the corresponding wavebands are relatively accurate, requiring detection with an UV radiometer.

(3) Ozone disinfection

In many western developed countries, ozone disinfection is an extremely simple and efficient way to disinfect tap water. Ozone disinfection is currently a safe anti-virus method, which can directly kill all kinds of microorganisms and pathogens in water. The sterilization principle it often uses is the redox reaction, but this method is more expensive, it is not common in China.

3. Choose UV radiometer

The correct choice of UV radiometer has a positive impact on the efficiency of UV disinfection. Generally speaking, when choosing UV radiometer, people will choose the ones with strong waterproof function and excellent measurement performance. In addition, the suitable range is also one of the factors that must be considered. Therefore, it is particularly proposed that the Linshang UV radiometer takes into account the above advantages. It is more convenient and simple in operation. Based on extremely high data accuracy, this UV radiometer has wide measurement range and support long-term underwater work.
