1. Measuring range of gloss meter
The measurement unit of the gloss meter is called the gloss unit (GU). Linshang Technology sells instruments covering various gloss measurements. Gloss measurement ranges from matte to specular. Linshang gloss meter has different measuring ranges to suit the gloss measurement of paints and varnishes as well as polished metals, mirrors and other surfaces. For example, for determining the gloss of paints and varnishes, a measurement range of 0 to 100 GU is usually sufficient. We recommend the LS191, a 60 degree angle digital gloss meter, which has a measuring range of 0-200GU. The gloss measurement of polished metals, mirrors and other surfaces requires a wide range of instruments. We recommend using Linshang LS192 gloss meter, the measuring range of the instrument is up to 1000GU.
2. Measurement angle of gloss meter
At the bottom of the gloss meter, there is a light source. When the light source is activated, it emits a light beam, which is projected on the surface of the measured object. The measurement angle is the emission angle of the beam. Due to their nature, certain types of surfaces require specific measurement angles to ensure accurate gloss measurements. The most common measurement geometries are 20 degrees, 60 degrees and 85 degrees. Generally, a 20-degree measurement angle is used for high-gloss measurement, a 60-degree measurement angle is used for low-to-medium gloss measurement and an 85-degree measurement angle is used for matte gloss measurement. As the resolution of the gloss meter continues to increase, if you are not sure what gloss range the object you want to measure belongs to, you can purchase a universal 60-degree angle gloss meter.
3. Gloss meter standard
Gloss measurement is necessay for many quality control professionals. The gloss of the product (and its packaging) must be consistent and meet the necessary safety requirements. The Linshang gloss meter helps quality control professionals control the quality of their products and their packaging. The Linshang gloss meter has high accuracy, which can ensure that it can pass any authoritative metrology institute's test. All indicators meet the requirements of the first-class working machine in the national JJG 696-2002 "Mirror Gloss Meter and Gloss Board" measurement verification regulations.
