Optical Density Meter | Lampshades Classification and Light Transmittance
1. What are the types of lampshade materials?
(1) Painted metal lampshade
For some new led lamps, most of them use metal paint lampshades. Due to the unique metal texture of the material, they are often used in home furnishing with Nordic and industrial styles. The most common material is aluminum, which has better heat resistance. It is not easy to burn and the stability is relatively high. It can be mixed with other accessories at home to produce different effects.
(2) Glass lampshade
The glass lampshade is mainly made by manual blowing. Not only is it exquisite in appearance, some of the exquisitely carved lampshades are also called works of art. The glass lampshade is one of the transparent materials, which is not easy to deform and yellow. It is resistant to high temperatures. Coloring through matte, spraying, aluminum plating and other processes is very suitable for indoor use.
(3) Acrylic lampshade
Acrylic lampshade has good toughness and is not easy to break; Its light transmittance can reach 92%. However, it is not scratch resistant, the process is complicated.
(4) Resin lampshade
The resin lampshade is light and not fragile. Compared with acrylic, it is not afraid of scratching. The disadvantage is that it is discolored and easily deformed at high temperature for a long time.
(5) PVC lampshade
The PVC lampshade is bright in color, corrosion-resistant, durable.
2. How to detect the light transmittance of the lampshade?
The main function of the lampshade is to spread the focused light source evenly, so that the strong light diffuses evenly after passing through the lampshade, so that it will not be dazzling. Generally, a diffuser is added to the lampshade material to diffuse the light source. A common optical density meter with a regular transmission principle has a certain distance between the receiver and the light source. As a result, the transmittance that the receiver cannot obtain during the test is much lower than the transmittance of the actual lampshade. The Linshang LS117 optical density meter uses the principle of diffuse transmission. This is a simple solution to perfectly replace the function of integrating spheres. It professionally tests the transmittance of opalescent, frosted and fogged materials that have a diffusion effect on light sources. During the test, the light source and the receiving sleeve are close to the material. The frosted glass reflects the transmitted light intensity many times, so that the transmitted light intensity is completely and evenly transmitted to the receiver. And the transmittance and optical density value of the diffuse material can be accurately tested by the LS117 optical density meter.
