II. How to choose a suitable UV radiometer?

1. Choose UV radiometer according to UV curing light source

The curing light sources used in different industries are different. Commonly used curing light sources include high-pressure mercury lamps, halogen lamps, gallium lamps and UV LED light sources. 365nm wavelength is mainly used for the curing of high-pressure mercury lamps, halogen lamps, while 417nm, wavelength is mainly used for gallium lamps for curing , which is often referred to as 420nm. UV LED light sources are used for curing at 365nm, 375nm, 385nm, 395nm , 405nm, etc. After a customer purchased a UV radiometer, they found that the instrument did not match their UV light source, precisely because they did not purchase a corresponding UV radiometer based on the light source they used.

Most UV radiometers on the market are designed for high-pressure mercury lamps. If the ultraviolet light source used for curing is a high-pressure mercury lamp and a halogen lamp, a mercury lamp UV energy meter should be selected. If your light source is a gallium lamp, UV LED light source, you can choose LED UV radiometer. As a professional UV radiometer manufacturer, Linshang Technology has developed a UV radiometer for high-pressure mercury lamps and UV LED light sources-LS120, LS128, LS130 and LS131.

If you want to know which UV radiometer is suitable for you and how much does a UV radiometer cost, you can refer to the detailed parameters of the instrument below.

The LS120 and LS128 UV radiometers are disc type, which can measure power, energy and temperature. The probe is on the back of the UV energy meter. When in use, put the UV energy meter probe upward and the screen downward, to prevent the temperature in the curing machine from being too high during the test and damaging the display screen.

The LS130 and LS131 UV radiometers are rectangular and can measure power and energy but can't measure temperature. The probe and the display are on the same side, which makes it easy to view the data. If necessary, a high temperature protective cover can be purchased to prevent the UV energy meter from being damaged at high temperatures.

2. Select UV radiometer according to range

The energy measurement range and power measurement range are also a problem that most customers are very concerned about when purchasing a UV radiometer. Many customers worry that after purchasing a UV radiometer, the measured data is not accurate due to insufficient range. Therefore, before purchasing, be sure to confirm the measurement range of the instrument. The energy measurement range of Linshang UV radiometer is 0-999999mJ / cm², the power measurement range of mercury lamp UV radiometer is 0-2000mW / cm². The power measurement range of LED UV radiometer is 0-40000 mW / cm². This is a true large measurement range UV radiometer.

3. Choose UV radiometer according to application

Before choosing a suitable UV radiometer, you must know your needs. In addition to the curing light source and measurement range, it is also very important for customers to use UV radiometers. Some customers test at a fixed point and some customers need to place the UV energy meter on the conveyor belt for testing. Some curing machines are relatively small and disc type UV energy meters can’t be placed. A rectangular UV radiometer can be used.

(1) Fixed point measurement

If it is a fixed-point test, in addition to the four UV radiometers mentioned above, you can also choose the Linshang LS125 UV radiometer.

(2) Conveyor measurement

Then some customers will have questions. If my conveyor belt is very long, when the UV energy meter reaches the middle position of the conveyor belt, no one will manually press the measuring button. The automatic measurement function of the UV radiometer developed by Linshang Technology was developed to solve this problem for customers. During the test, the trigger value of the UV energy meter can be set. In Auto mode, when the power value is greater than a settled trigger threshold, the measurement is automatically started. When it is less than this trigger threshold, the measurement is automatically stopped. (The recording time is 32 minutes. For some production lines that are very long and need to run for a long time before reaching the UV light source, the "AUTO" mode must be selected).

If it is a conveyor belt test, it is recommended to choose Linshang UV radiometer series. Because the curing machine and the exposure machine are generally tested at high temperature. The Linshang UV radiometer is resistant to high temperatures. If you want to know more about the high temperature resistance of Linshang UV energy meter, please refer to the "Use Time of Linshang UV Energy Meter at Different High Temperature".

4. Choose reliable UV radiometer manufacturers

To buy a Chinese UV radiometer with high cost performance, the most important thing is to choose a trusted UV radiometer manufacturer. A guaranteed UV radiometer manufacturer must provide good UV energy meters and considerate after-sales service. And the UV energy meter will not be too expensive while ensuring high performance. Such a UV radiometer is the most popular and loved by customers. The price of imported UV radiometer is generally tens of thousands of dollars. This UV radiometer price exceeds the budget of many customers. We recommend using Linshang UV radiometer, you can choose according to the curing light source you use. The data of Linshang UV radiometer is comparable to that of the US EIT UV radiometer, but the price is not too expensive. The price is US $442.

III. How to use UV radiometer?

The UV radiometer is an instrument mainly used to detect the UV energy of the ultraviolet light source in the curing machine. When putting the product into the curing machine for curing, the operator usually does not know how long it needs to be cured and the irradiation intensity needed to achieve the desired curing effect. That is, it is hard to control the UV energy that the UV light source needs. In addition, the ultraviolet light source will be attenuated. If it is not attenuated, a good curing effect can be achieved every time you operate according to the set conveyor speed and duration. But after the light source is attenuated, you need to use a professional UV radiometer. The UV radiometer can help the staff operating the curing machine to solve this problem. After the curing of the product is completed and a satisfactory curing effect is achieved, the UV radiometer can be used to detect the ultraviolet energy in the curing machine to provide a quantitative standard. The UV radiometer can detect the energy during curing and display it on the screen in the form of data.

The high-precision UV radiometer can help the operator to obtain the curing energy of each use to ensure that it is within the set curing parameter range. If the energy required for curing does not reach the standard, the operator can check the radiation intensity of the curing light source to see if the light source needs to be replaced or extend the curing time to obtain the required ultraviolet radiation intensity, thereby ensuring the same curing effect of the same product. Most UV radiometers on the market can only test the energy value. There are a few UV radiometers that can simultaneously measure the energy value and the irradiation intensity of the curing light source, such as the Linshang UV energy meter (UV radiometer). The unit of energy measurement of UV radiometer is mJ / cm² and the unit of irradiation intensity is mW / cm². If you want to know details about how to use LS128 UV energy meter, please watch the following video.

IV. UV radiometer calibration and verification procedures

Many customers often ask "Can Linshang UV energy meter pass the inspection, how often does the UV energy meter need to be calibrated?" When consulting the UV radiometer from Linshang. The UV radiometer is usually recommended to be calibrated once a year. The mercury lamp UV radiometer has a unified Chinese standard and the Linshang UV radiometer for mercury lamps can pass the inspection of the Chinese National Institute of Metrology. The calibration condition of the UV energy meter with a spectral response range of 315-400nm is generally a high-pressure mercury lamp with a peak wavelength of 365nm. The technical basis for calibration is "JJG 879-2015 Verification Regulation of Ultraviolet Radiometers". The LED UV radiometer currently has no Chinese or international standards. Therefore, if the metrology institute uses other light source standards for verification at the time of inspection, there will be a large data deviation.
